The officer squints at it, flips it back and forth, and\u2026 well, if you\u2019ve spent any time in Nigeria, you know how this story usually ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The harsh reality? <strong>Over 11 million vehicles in Nigeria are either uninsured or operating with fake insurance papers.<\/strong> Let that sink in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"the-state-of-motor-insurance-in-nigeria\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The State of Motor Insurance in Nigeria<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s the breakdown:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>15 million cars<\/strong> are on Nigerian roads.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Less than <strong>4 million<\/strong> are registered on the National Insurance Industry Database (NIID).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At <strong>\u20a615,000 per policy<\/strong>, that\u2019s <strong>\u20a6165 billion<\/strong> in potential premiums left unclaimed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add this to the projected <strong>\u20a61.1 trillion<\/strong> in premiums for 2024, and you\u2019re looking at an industry that could <strong>double in size overnight<\/strong>\u2014if we get it right.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The recent enforcement push by <strong>NAICOM<\/strong> and the <strong>Nigeria Police Force<\/strong> is a step in the right direction. But let\u2019s be honest: <strong>Enforcement alone isn\u2019t the solution.
